Club History
On June 23rd, 1956 the President of the newly formed Lions Club of Levack-Onaping, Lion Roy Quesnel received the Charter from District Governor Els Whalen. There were approximately 58 charter Members.
The Levack-Onaping Lions Club as we were originally known, met for many years at the "Old Hall" which was later named the Dav-len Centre in Levack. After moving to the Boardroom of the Dowling Hotel, we became known as the Onaping Falls Lions Club.
We spent two enjoyable years meeting in Garth and Diana Young's recreation room, while dining on her delicious meals.
The first property we could "kind of" call our own, was acquired from the Onaping Falls Skidoo Club. Today we use the property as our warehouse for hospital equipment as well as yardsale donations.
Our present Lions Den is a lease from the Greater City of Sudbury which had been used as the Dowling Library.

One very effective way to gain prospective members has always been to invite them to a dinner meeting.
The late Noella Winn was the "Den Mother" (to our all male club) for many years while we met in Levack and Onaping. All the "Old Timers" will remember her catering. For many years, Diana Young an outstanding chef had sole domaine in our kitchen.

Le 23 juin 1956 le président du club de lions récemment formé de Levack-Onaping, lion Roy Quesnel a reçu la charte du Gouverneur du district Els Whalen. Il y avait approximativement 58 membres fondateurs.
Le club de lions de Levack-Onaping comme nous avons été à l'ancien connus, nous nous sommes réunis pendant beaucoup d'années au "Vieux Hall" ce qui plus tard a été renommé le centre de Dav-len dans Levack. Après avoir été déplacer à la salle de réunion de l'hôtel de Dowling, nous sommes devenus connue comme le club de lions d'Onaping.
Nous avons passé deux belles années se réunir dans la pièce de récréation de Garth et Diana Young, tout en dinant sur ses repas délicieux.
La première propriété nous pourrions appelez la notre, a été acquis du club de Skidoo d'Onaping Falls. Aujourd'hui nous employons la propriété en tant que notre entrepôt pour l'équipement d'hôpital aussi bien que des donations de yardsale.
Notre maison courante de lions est un bail de la ville du Grand Sudbury qui avait été employée comme bibliothèque de Dowling.

Une façon très efficace de gagner les membres éventuels a toujours été de les inviter à une réunion de dîner.
Auparavant Noella Winn était le "Den Mother" (à notre club tout masculin) pendant plusieurs années tandis que nous nous réunissions dans Levack et Onaping.
